Faith, Courage and Emotional Strength
Scottish Asian Counselling Services delivered a faith-based wellbeing workshop at Albert Drive Gurdwara as part of Sikhi Camp, designed to help children build emotional resilience, confidence, and self-understanding. The workshop combined Sikhi teachings with CBT-informed approaches, guiding children through the journey of Guru Gobind Singh Ji while exploring the connection between thoughts, feelings and actions. Through creative activities, discussion, and reflection, children were supported to express emotions, ask meaningful questions, and develop practical skills for managing challenges.
A key focus of the session was courage, encouraging children to recognise their inner strength and understand that it is safe to speak openly about their feelings. The workshop created a space where children felt heard, supported and connected to one another, reinforcing the message that emotional wellbeing and faith can work together in powerful ways. The session highlighted the value of culturally and faith-responsive mental health work, showing how integrating familiar narratives with therapeutic tools can help children develop confidence, emotional awareness, and resilience beyond the workshop setting.
